{"id":7238,"date":"2015-03-20T12:58:35","date_gmt":"2015-03-20T01:58:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/endchilddetention.org\/?p=7238"},"modified":"2018-08-23T12:35:55","modified_gmt":"2018-08-23T02:35:55","slug":"un-expert-states-should-immediately-end-the-immigration-detention-of-children","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/endchilddetention.org\/news\/un-expert-states-should-immediately-end-the-immigration-detention-of-children\/","title":{"rendered":"UN Expert: States Should Immediately End the Immig..."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A UN Expert has found that the immigration detention of children is a violation of child rights, and\u00a0is \u201ccruel, inhuman or degrading treatment\u201d condemned by\u00a0the international prohibition on torture, according to a groundbreaking report published by UN\u00a0Special Rapporteur on Torture,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/antitorture.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Juan E. M\u00e9ndez<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This report explores child protection standards and frameworks within immigration detention, to shield children from torture, ill-treatment and experiencing harmful conditions.
