A UN Expert has found that the immigration detention of children is a violation of child rights, and\u00a0is \u201ccruel, inhuman or degrading treatment\u201d condemned by\u00a0the international prohibition on torture, according to a groundbreaking report published by UN\u00a0Special Rapporteur on Torture,\u00a0Juan E. M\u00e9ndez<\/a>.<\/p>\n This report explores child protection standards and frameworks within immigration detention, to shield children from torture, ill-treatment and experiencing harmful conditions.
