[NEW YORK, UNITED STATES] Advocates from international and local organizations and migrant children and families will gather in front of the United Nations for a candle light vigil in support of children\u2019s rights. While many celebrate today to mark the 25th<\/sup> Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, there are hundreds of thousands who cannot.<\/p>\n

Many children around the world continue to be locked in immigration detention, a practice that, even for very short periods of time and in relatively humane conditions, has severe, negative effects on children\u2019s physical and mental health.<\/p>\n
