We ask children to record a 20-second video message for all children in immigration detention.

The campaign aims to gather as many messages from young people around the world in order to send a powerful and extraordinary call for change to the United Nations and to governments.

Find a good place to record your message, make it look like you are locked up behind bars yourself.

Stand behind a fence or bars and start the video by saying your age and country. Keep the whole video to under 20 seconds. You don’t need to mention your name.

Use the form below to send us your video or do it via Facebook. We will let you know when your message has been posted so you can share it with friends and family.

How is my privacy protected?

We will not accept any videos that include names or other identifiable elements other than just the country you are from.

Why should I record a message?

The more messages we collect the more difficult it is for politicians to ignore this problem.

How can I remove my message?

At any time you can unpublish your video by making it private on your Youtube account. That way it will become invisible on the channel and on the campaign website too.

How can I organise a speak up event at my school?

School groups can easily participate and combine recording messages with learning about this global problem. Find out more or download the consent form if you are a teacher.

Why do I have to be 13 years or older, or ask my parents?

The YouTube terms of use require anyone who creates an account to be 13 years or older. We also believe that you need to create your message with help of your parents if you are under 13.

How does recording a message help?

Politicians, journalists and your family and friends will see that you care about child detention.

Who will see the petition?

Anyone will be able to see it on the website and the Youtube channel.
