Event stream: Ending Child and Family Detention

[NEW YORK, UNITED STATES] Advocates from international and local organizations and migrant children and families will gather in front of the United Nations for a candle light vigil in support of children’s rights. While many celebrate today to mark the 25^th Anniversary of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, there are hundreds of thousands who cannot.

Many children around the world continue to be locked in immigration detention, a practice that, even for very short periods of time and in relatively humane conditions, has severe, negative effects on children’s physical and mental health.
