Drawings By Themselves: A Self-Portrait of America

Children have a right to family life.

A multi-media project featuring the artwork and stories of children and their parents in U.S. immigration detention was launched on November 20 in New York.

CIVIC (www.endisolation.org) partnered with the International Detention Coalition, the Global Campaign to End Child Detention, the Guadalupe Art Program, and First Friends of New Jersey & New York to develop “Drawings By Themselves: A Self-Portrait of America.”

The project is available here

Drawings By Themselves: Portraits of America is a multimedia project, which provides children and their parents in U.S. immigration detention with an opportunity to share their stories and their drawings.

The project was released on November 20, 2014, in honor of the International Day of Action to End Child Detention and the 25th anniversary of the United Nations Convention of the Rights of the Child.
